Most faculty begin the fall semester with good intentions and a vague sense of what they’d like to accomplish — only to arrive at December wondering where the time went. This one-hour webinar cuts through that cycle by giving you a concrete framework for designing a writing practice that actually fits your fall schedule. You’ll map your available writing time honestly (including all the obligations that compete for it), identify which projects belong in your semester mix and why, and set publication goals tied to real deadlines rather than aspiration. Whether you’re working on articles, a book manuscript, conference proposals, or a combination, you’ll leave with a semester writing plan that accounts for your actual life — not an idealized version of it.

We’ll also cover the operational layer that keeps a writing plan alive past week two: how to set up a simple tracking system, how to protect your writing time on a calendar that other people can see and override, and how to make decisions when the semester inevitably looks different from what you planned. This webinar is designed for faculty and graduate students at any career stage and across all disciplines. It will be recorded, and all registrants will receive the Zoom link 24 hours before the session.
